How we make money

Today, we don't. CardPairing has no affiliate relationship, referral agreement or paid placement with any credit-card issuer or affiliate network. Every card button on this site is a plain link to the issuer's own official page: no tracking parameter, no referral identifier, and nothing paid to us whether or not you apply.

We are saying this on its own page because the opposite claim is the industry default. US card comparison sites are usually paid per approval, and that shapes which cards get shown. Ours are not, so there is nothing to shape them.

Why the links are there at all

Card terms change constantly, and the only authoritative source for the current APR, fee and bonus is the issuer. The buttons exist so you can go and check, in one click, on the page that is legally responsible for those numbers. That is the whole job they do.

What this means for the rankings

Every card in our set is treated identically, because none of them pays us. The matcher and the tables are decided on each card's published terms and how well the card fits your profile, and we say plainly when a fee or APR makes a card a poor fit.

If this ever changes

If we do sign an affiliate agreement, three things happen at once: this page is rewritten to say so, a short disclosure appears next to every affected link, and those links (and only those) carry a rel="sponsored" attribute — as required by the U.S. FTC's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255) for any "material connection". The ranking criteria would not move: payout has never been, and would not become, a scoring input. Until you see that disclosure, assume — correctly — that we earn nothing.
